Four pitchers combined for a two-hitter as the Carl Sandburg College baseball team picked up its first victory of the season Tuesday in a doubleheader split at Southwestern Illinois. Sandburg took the opener 13-4 before the Blue Storm earned a 4-3 victory in Game 2.

Key Moment
The Chargers sent 11 batters to the plate in a six-run second inning that saw six consecutive hits to open the frame. Luke Jones (Rantoul, Ill./Rantoul) opened the inning with a double to left and scored when Brett Macak (Monticello, Ill./Monticello) followed with a triple. After an infield hit and run-scoring wild pitch, Ashton Johnson (Brimfield, Ill./Brimfield) delivered an RBI double to left, and Abe Collins (Morton, Ill./Morton) singled to center to bring home a run for a 5-1 lead.
Sandburg Standout
Shortstop Cam Scott (Mapleton, Ill./Illini Bluffs) went 4 for 4 with two triples, two singles and a walk. Scott scored twice and drove in three.

Key Moment
Hunter Darst (Avon, Ill./Abingdon-Avon) opened the seventh with a base hit and scored on a sacrifice fly to bring the Chargers (1-9) within 4-3. Sandburg put the winning run on base when singled with two out and Isaac Riegler (McLean, Ill./Olympia) drew a walk, but Johnson struck out to end the contest.
